Martin was out cold for a lot longer than he would have anticipated. Of course, he woke up without much concept of time until he fully was lucid for a few days. He was set up in quite a nice flat. This Irene Adler really held up her end of the deal and he knew he had struck a deal with the devil, but he was loving it.

So on his second week in London, actually capable of moving about, he got himself a haircut and a shave. He now had the funds so he was able to buy a suit and look quite presentable. Nothing like his incarcerated self.

Then he found the guinea pig cafe.

She had to know that he had 'passed' since it was in the news, causing him to wait a while before coming out of hiding. Still, Martin grinned as he approached the tiny cafe, seeing that it was a bit different than what he had imagined from her description of it. He casually walked inside as if he were anyone else.

"Do I just take a seat anywhere or..."

"Then I'll be deprived if you never properly fuck my cunt." She has needs as well.

"We could go, get you some candles or something." She shrugs, "not really. I make sandwiches at the cafe and basically nothing at home."

Martin tilted his head and smiled at her, “You know I could never deprive you of anything.” He moved in to put his arms around her from behind.

“Then it sounds like I’ll be cooking. Sit down and open the wine, I’ll make us something.” Almost like a normal couple really.

She leans back against him, happily.

"You cook?" She's a bit surprised by this, though she probably shouldn't be. She leaves his arms to open the wine and watch him in the kitchen. "Aside from the murder, you really are a keeper."

“Ill have you know, I was a fantastic husband and father.” He pulled out some pots and pants, starting to boil water and chop up vegetables. “I love to entertain and host dinner parties.” Truly a lifetime ago.

"Fancy." She pours two glasses of one and brings one to him.

She leans against the counter to watch him work.

"You're fascinating. You're so much more than I expected."

"Thank you, sweetheart." He accepted the wine and clinked his glass to hers before taking a long drink, seemingly to appreciate it for a long paused moment.

"Am I? Or are the lads in England just that dull and boring?" he smiled as he began to cut vegetables and some beef.

"Most people are boring." She gives a little shrug. "You don't even need to be that clever to see it."

She's not the same sort of brilliant he is, but she's quick witted and smarter than average.

"Yes, they are." He said this with eyebrows raised and a knowing tone as he began to cook. "And a waste of time.

"You're quite clever," of course the American sense of the word meant something than the British, but he still meant it in both regards.

"You're not a waste of time." He's interesting, brilliant and fun.

"Not in the same way you are. You're properly brilliant, and you know it."

"I'm glad you think so." he chuckled. "I am. And I typically find others who are properly brilliant to be quite annoying." He made a face to illustrate his disgust. "I quite like those who are at my level in a way that isn't so...cocky."

"So you wouldn't be friends with yourself. I don't think two narcissists would work together."

And he's definitely a narcissist.

"Will you teach me anatomy?"

“No; we find each other far too annoying and are always trying to manipulate the other. We need complimentary partners.”

“Well certainly if you wish to learn.” He is honestly surprised that she is asking. “I seem to have quite a bit of free time on my hands now. Any particular anatomy?”

"Not really. I've just always been curious and I've got someone who is well-versed now." She gets to learn something and he can show off. It's bonding.

She sips her wine. "This one is really nice."

“I could teach you by the books or with live specimens.” His eyes flickered up to her, gauging her comfort with such an idea.

“I doubt any of these bottles are less than $100.” He had gathered some of Ms Adler’s taste.

She's not immediately repulsed by the idea.

"Perhaps a corpse first, to get me used to the look of actual organs and such?"

If they're already dead she doesn't think she will feel bad about seeing them cut apart, it's an easier entry point into what he does than a living, crying person.

"Much more than I usually spend on wine." She chuckles.

"Sure," He smiled and took it at what it was; he couldn't expect leaps and bounds. Not that he was looking for a partner in that arena, but it was nice to have someone appreciate the things that he typically couldn't share with others.

"Lucky for you, you won't be buying anymore wine." he chuckled, turning to the stove to focus on the food for a moment.

It's pretty bold for her to be willing to come gaze at a freshly made corpse for the purpose of science. Especially knowing he had made a person into a thing. There was an openness between them that she hoped he appreciated as much as she did.

"Yeah, I could get used to the good wine. And the handsome man making me dinner."

And he certainly did. It was quite a sexy look on her.

He laughed at her comment as he began to dish out the food onto some fancy dishware. "And I could get used to have company." He added as he brought the dishes towards the large table in the middle of the room, expecting she would follow.

"Keep me in food and wine and I may never leave." Of course she follows him to the table. She brings the wine bottle with her so they can have another glass.

"I do miss the cardigan a little bit." She teases, "I'm sure we can find something equally comfortable for me to steal."

"Ah that cardigan." he had loved that too. "We could just replace it. It was getting a bit worn out in the end anyway." Not that he planned to wear much outside of suits and sweats around this place.

"Although that may just make me look like more of an old man." While he still found himself great, he looked to her as if fishing for compliments as he lifts his own glass for a long drink.

"Hm." She ponders it for a moment. "The haircut helped."

She grins, "I try to not think about how old you are."

She can be an instigator, especially when she knows he's looking for an ego stroke.

That felt good to hear and he rewarded her with a smile.

"I often like to think of how old you are." Not that she was scandalously young, Ainsley was probably younger, but the age difference was quite sexy to him. "And hold old you were when I was your age." A teenager he supposes.

"Dirty old man." She teases. "You could have been one of my teachers, or a college professor. I definitely would have fucked you then too."

The age thing adds to the power dynamic. It's not something that bothers her, really. Even if she is his son's age.

He laughs, "I could have and I would have loved watching your little quips in class." His eyes fell to her mouth as he said this. "And pondered about all of the things I could do to you if we were alone."

"Ever fucked a professor?" Worth asking since she clearly seems like the type to have tried. "I mean, after the priest and the serial killer, what's the limit?"

"I would have made an excuse to go to your office hours. Worn a short skirt."

She had been especially terrible in her 20s.

"The professor was before both of those, thank you. My second year of college I had an affair with an English literature professor."
